On May 3, 2014, South Sacramento rapper Lavish D (nee’ Donald Oliver) was apprehended by police on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Lavish D had been on the run from police since March as a result of a YouTube video of him and his crew beating up a member of a rival gang inside an Arden Fair Mall footlooker.
According to Sacramento gumshoes, Oliver is associated with a gang on West Sacramento’s Mack Road. Allegedly tensions between Lavish D’s crew and a rival gang in Oak Park climaxed in an explosive gang war that caused a string of shootings in March that left six people wounded in just two days.
The Sacramento FBI Safe Streets Task Force maintain that the shootings were acts of retribution between the two rival Sacramento street gangs.
